Late June is one of the most atmospheric moments to stay in Estepona. Summer has properly arrived, evenings are warm, the promenade fills with local life, and the calendar starts to shift from easy beach days into festival season. If you are renting an apartment in or near Estepona this week, you can keep the days relaxed and still have plenty of memorable plans close by.

Noche de
San Juan
The biggest date this week is Tuesday 23 June 2026, when Estepona celebrates Noche de San Juan on Playa de la Rada, near Correos. According to Estepona Town Hall, the celebration begins at 21:00 with performances on the Paseo Maritimo and the traditional XLVI Quema de los Bigotes de San Juan contest.
The evening includes the locally loved juas: handmade figures created by associations and residents, often with humorous or satirical themes, which are burned at midnight. The Town Hall programme also lists a concert by La Decada Prodigiosa from around 22:00, followed by the burning of the participating juas at 00:00.
Guest tip: Go early if you want dinner nearby, as La Rada and the promenade should be busier than usual. Wear comfortable sandals, bring water, and do not rely on driving right up to the beach at the last minute. This is a great evening to walk from the apartment, take a taxi, or park a little farther away and enjoy the atmosphere on foot.
Magic Market
If you are in town before San Juan night, make time for the Mercado Magico 2026, which runs from 19 to 23 June 2026 on the seafront between Chiringuito Central and the Monument to La Peseta.
The official programme describes more than 50 stalls with crafts, food and themed products, plus street theatre, music, falconry displays, children's workshops, attractions, an Arabic tea area and evening performances. Opening is from 18:00 until midnight, with a slightly later finish on Friday and Saturday.
For apartment guests, this is an easy pre-dinner or after-beach plan. Go in the early evening, browse the stalls, let children enjoy the workshops or street performers, and then continue along the promenade for dinner or ice cream.
Afterwards, stop for coffee, ice cream or tapas around the centre. Even a short walk can turn into a lovely slow afternoon.
FLEST, Estepona's Literary Festival
From Friday 26 to Sunday 28 June 2026, Estepona hosts the III Festival Literario de Estepona (FLEST) at the Centro Cultural Mirador del Carmen. The Town Hall has announced a broad programme of literature, music, talks, poetry and workshops, with names including Rosa Montero, Enrique Vila-Matas, Estrella Morente, Pedro Piqueras, Belen Cuesta, Paloma Sanchez-Garnica and others.
The weekend schedule includes evening conversations, poetry sessions, a children's workshop for ages 6 to 12, and an outdoor concert-recital by Estrella Morente on Saturday night. Some sessions may be especially popular, so guests should check the latest access or ticket arrangements before going.
Why it works on holiday: FLEST is a good change of rhythm after beach time. You can spend the morning swimming, rest through the hottest hours, and head to the Mirador del Carmen area in the evening for culture, sea air and a drink nearby.
Mirador del Carmen
Estepona's cultural centre also has a strong indoor option for hot afternoons. A new exhibition, "Maestros de la luz y la forma (De lo intimo a lo publico)", opened at the Centro Cultural Mirador del Carmen and is scheduled to run until 14 August 2026. Local reporting and the Town Hall describe it as a free exhibition of 60 works, including paintings and sculptures connected with major names such as Picasso, Sorolla, Tapies, Barcelo, Zabaleta, Rafael Alberti, Diego Rivera and others.
This is a useful plan for couples, art lovers or families with older children who want a quieter break from the beach. Pair it with a walk along the seafront or a sunset drink after the heat softens.
